How To Protect Yourself From  COVID-19 and Other Viruses

  1. Community Building

Utilise our local resources by contacting local farmers or fruit and vegetable delivery businesses and see how you can work together. Talk to the families you know and see if you can do bulk ordering together.

Contact your local beef and poultry farms and see what bulk purchasing options they have for direct sale.

  1. Hygiene Habits

Increase hand washing, carry hand sanitiser and baby wipes everywhere  and clean, clean, clean: before meals, after meals, when coming home,  after touching money or groceries, pushing trollies, playing outside,  everywhere! Be aggressive about it!

Myself and my siblings grew up in some of the dirtiest third world  countries without being vaccinated (simply because we were travelling)  and we never contracted any childhood disease or illness. I believe that was due to my mum being ‘a nazi’ about cleanliness and hygiene and cross-contamination

  1. Immune Support

Prevention is better than cure. First of all ensure your nutrition supports your health and immune system. Include foods such as garlic, fresh herbs,  bone broths, vegetables, fruits that are high in polyphenols and superfoods.  Optimal protein is also important for your immune system ensuring your body gets adequate iron and amino acids to support pathways.

Foods that I would suggest to abstain from include artificially processed and packaged foods, and foods that are high in refined sugar. Limit foods from restaurants and take-away joints; you don’t know what their standard of hygiene is behind closed doors.

  1. Natural Medicines

The basic nutrients to support the immune system are, Zinc, Vitamin C, A  and D. Zinc Lozenges are specifically noted as a first line of defense in treating the coronavirus. Salt water gargling with the addition of calendula or thyme is also effective in treating throat viral infections.

Herbal Medicines that have been used traditionally throughout history to  support the immune system include: Andrographis, Echinacea, Elder,  Thyme, Astralgus, Olive Leaf, Liquorice, Cats Claw, Golden Seal,  Mushrooms and Oregano Oil.

If you don’t have access to a health food store, contact your local naturopath or myself and see what immune boosting brews they can make  up for you and your family to keep them healthy and strong.

  1. Stress Control

Download the Wim Hoff app and do some deep breathing to help you stay calm and keep the stress response in your body in your control. Play music that will lift your spirits and make you feel good.

And lastly, we are all living on the same planet and are all affected by each other and what we do, so slow down and remember we’re not alone but we will beat the coronavirus if we all do the best to take care of ourselves and each other. I am currently offering 15-30 minute appointments either in person or via phone or Skype if you are wanting assistance getting the right support for your health.
